FAQ
What is New Leaf?
New Leaf is a learning community being built by parents for children.

We are creating a space where children are supported as whole humans: where connection, autonomy and meaningful engagement guide the day. Our approach is child-led, relationship-based and grounded in respect for neurodiversity.
Who is New Leaf designed for?
New Leaf is for children who may not feel fully supported in traditional school settings.

This may include neurodivergent learners, children who need more flexibility or movement, or children who thrive in environments that prioritize connection over compliance.

We welcome a wide range of learners and aim to build a community where differences are expected and supported.
What does it mean that Year 1 is a homeschool co-op?
For our first year, New Leaf will operate as a collaborative, community-based homeschool co-op.

This means families remain the primary educators for their children, while coming together to share space, resources, and support. Our team will help facilitate the environment and learning experiences.
Is this ABA?
New Leaf is not an ABA program. While some team members may have backgrounds in behavior analysis, our approach is neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed, and relationship-based. We do not use compliance-based strategies or reward systems.
What ages/grades will you serve in the first year?
Our first year will be a mixed Kindergarten–1st grade program.
What if my child needs additional support?
We will work closely with families to understand each child’s needs.

Because this is a co-op model, support will look different for each child. For some, the community structure and environment will be enough. For others, additional individualized support may be helpful.

Through our sister organization, Unfurling Littles, 1:1 support may be available if needed. We will collaborate with families to determine what feels supportive, appropriate, and sustainable.
